to bizarre statements she made about the shooter in that interview, even talkin talking r herself at one point for suing police for making her sit there all afternoon. then investigators asked her this uncomfortable question. did you shoot your baby? no, i didn t shoot my baby. did you shoot yourself? no. okay. i m not making it up. the kid s not going to stand there and get caught. i mean, he s not going to say, hey, yeah, i did it. you know what i mean? the defense is trying to implant in the minds of the jurors that west, or the baby s mother, louis santiago, was involved in the shooting, not their client. in a hearing today without the jury present, the public defender went so far to say the evidence points to a drug deal gone bad, or somebody who owed money to a drug dealer, not a random robbery as the prosecution contends, but the prosecution has produced six witnesses who put a gun in the hands of demarcus elkins.

a mother today has given emotional testimony in the trial of the teenager accused of shooting and killing her baby as she pushed the child in a stroller. sherry west broke down on the stand in a georgia courtroom. she told jurors how she says that teenager, demarcus elkins tried to rob her, and said when she told him she had no money he attempted to shoot her in the head but hit her ear and then shot her in the leg and then turned the gun on her baby. he walked over and shot my baby. see him shoot your baby? yes. i tried to stop him. i put my arms over my baby. but he still shot him.
