The Left government in Kerala, which has been blaming the Centre for the state's financial woes, had in its budget attacked the union government by saying that it was pushing the southern state towards the worst financial crisis in its history.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, along with deputy CM D K Shivakumar and Congress MLAs, staged a protest at Jantar Mantar, alleging Rs 45,000 crore losses due to tax injustice from the Centre. They demand a return to the old tax devolution formula and reject accusations of north-south divide. The move is seen as political positioning ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
