Delhi recorded 350 COVID-19 deaths on Sunday with the government deciding to extend the ongoing lockdown for another.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on April 25 had announced an extension of the lockdown announced on April 19 in Delhi, which will now continue till 5 am on May 3. The CM pointed out that the severity of COVID-19 is unabated and positivity rate has been as high as 36 per cent in the last few days.
Incidentally, the Delhi High Court on Monday requested the AAP government to set up more testing centres in view of the rise in COVID-19 cases in the national capital which is recording over 24,000 fresh infections for the last few days. The direction was issued by the court after several lawyers told the bench that they were facing difficulty in getting tested as labs were saying they will carry out sample collection after 2-3 days. Delhi recorded 22,933 cases with a positivity rate of 30.21 per cent on Sunday.
