The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), which prepared the plan and submitted it to the Centre last month, also plans a pilot project to paint roofs in identified areas with white colour to help keep the indoors cooler.
Maximum temperatures in the national capital are predicted to rise gradually but a heat wave is unlikely in the next four to five days, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The highest maximum temperature recorded in the city on Sunday was 46.3 degrees Celsius in Southwest Delhiās Najafgarh, where an automatic weather station is located.
