The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Monday appointed an independent twelve-member Expert Committee in regards to diversion of forest land for non-forest purposes and cutting of trees for widening and elevating corridor construction for a part of NH 72A between Dehradun and Delhi.
A significant focus of the visit will be on projects to improve the road infrastructure, which will make travel smooth and safer, and also increase tourism in the region.
Nainital (Uttarakhand) [India], August 8 (ANI): The Nainital High Court has asked the National Highways Authorities of India (NHAI) for a copy of the survey report by Forest Research Institute (FRI) after hearing the case of cutting of 25,100 trees due to widening of Delhi-Dehradun Highway in Shivalik forest area adjoining the Rajaji National Park.
The government had given nod to the construction of an elevated expressway between Dehradun and New Delhi which will reduce the distance between the two cities to 180 kms.
