It will take another year to vaccinate all eligible beneficiaries aged above 18 in the national capital at "the present rate of COVID-19 vaccine supply," the health department has told the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).
As Delhi starts vaccination for the beneficiaries between 18-44 years, the long queues can be seen outside various vaccination centres in the national capital. Pre-registration is mandatory for beneficiaries in the 18-45 age group and there is no walk-in facility for this category. COVID vaccination is important citing the present situation. Vaccination can reduce the death tendency, said Shruti, a beneficiary waiting for his term to get vaccinated at a vaccination centre in Ashok Nagar area. Another beneficiary Mithun told ANI that he was waiting for long time for the government to open a window for the vaccination for the 18-45 age group.

New Delhi:
A day before vaccinations open to all above 18, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal urged citizens not to queue up for Covid shots as the city has not received vaccine supplies yet. Don t queue up for vaccines tomorrow. As soon as vaccines arrive we will let you know, then you can come for shots. We appeal to you not to crowd vaccine centres in the next few days, Arvind Kejriwal said today. Many across the country have registered for vaccines but we have not received stocks. We are in regular touch with companies and we hope to get the vaccines in a day or two, the Chief Minister added.
After injecting shots against COVID-19 to over 3.6 lakh beneficiaries, authorities in Delhi are now set for the roll-out of the second phase of the inoculation drive on March 1.
