Sasha Vasquez graduated from a high school in Virgina in 2019, but she had known Pimental for years. They met while they were students at Gaudet Middle School.
“My father is in the military so I move quite often,” Vasquez said in a text message. “We met in PE class and she told me she liked my boots. The rest is history.”
Swansea man charged in fatal Newport crash
NEWPORT Police on Monday identified the 19-year-old woman killed early Saturday morning when the vehicle she was in crashed in the area of Brenton and Wickham roads.
Katelin Pimental of Middletown was one of five people in the vehicle and the only reported fatality. The vehicle she was in struck a “stationary object,” according to a press release sent out by Police Lt. April Amaral on Saturday.
Dekiah Laitola, 21, of Swansea, Massachusetts, has been charged with driving to endanger, death resulting, according to a press release from Newport police on Monday.
“[The] other occupants in the vehicle sustained minor injuries. The investigation is ongoing,” Amaral wrote in the press release Monday.
