Katelin Pimental, victim of fatal Newport crash, remembered fondly

MIDDLETOWN — Katelin Pimental was born on the Fourth of July, 19 years ago. 
On Tuesday, a makeshift memorial for the teenager in the area of Brenton and Wickham roads in Newport, the site of a fatal car crash early Saturday morning, included candles, flowers and photos. "Gone but never forgotten," reads a T-shirt on display at the memorial site. "We love you Kate."
Sasha Vasquez graduated from a high school in Virgina in 2019, but she had known Pimental for years. They met while they were students at Gaudet Middle School.
“My father is in the military so I move quite often,” Vasquez said in a text message. “We met in PE class and she told me she liked my boots. The rest is history.”
