i think it s a big problem for the republican party. i ll tell you something else about him, he was a deficit hawk. the deficit went from 660 billion when he started to 1 trillion right now. i think he s got flexible views. i think that is emblematic of where a lot of republicans are. look, all that has gone on with regard to the personal scandals and the access hollywood tape, this president many will agree is a little on the shallow end of the integrity pool. with that being said we voted for him for his policies. we knew what we were getting when we voted for him. we voted for him to be strong on immigration, on fiscal responsibility, be strong on national security and supreme court justices. that was my number one issue, and so far we re two for two with this president, and republicans social evangelicals and christian conservatives those are the reasons they voted for this president, and he is delivering on these promises he
exploiting his position, spending lavishly on private travel, scott pruitt, ben carson, 31,000 dollars on a dining set. among others, have done the same. i think when it comes to mick mulvaney his transformation from 2016 to today was astronomical this. was a plan who according to politico said that donald trump was not a good human being being, or pardon me, a terrible human being and as a deficit hawk, one of the founders of the house freedom caucus to campaign against the debt limit, and then becking his colleagues to raise the debt limit, this guy has become nothing more than a hypocrite. now, this time we need somebody who can cut deals with democrats who are going to be in control after january 3. the question is now, the one thing that i think he s got an advantage of, is that he did serve in congress with nancy pelosi. he s got some relationships. so the big issue is whether or not he s going to build any consensus with the white house and congress. all right.
terrible things that the end of the world. what the positive case, what can we look forward to? i think kennedy is right. republicans abandoned the whole idea of fiscal discipline. they lost that mantle and have the opportunity to gain it back because i am a deficit hawk and it drives me nuts that we are rocking the set. go ahead and cut taxes but you have to cut spending as well. and you have to tackle entitlement. i also agree with ann because karen mccarthy is the majority leader. that s the one that determines what bills come up before the house. not the speaker of the house. why not do that in the last two years? and guess what they are still in session. if you want you can call them back to vote on it tomorrow. we will do that i hope they do in the future. you have tax reform 2.0 i think it s a positive thing. i think they can make that more permanent. i do think they can deal with entitlement, they ve done a good job there. foreign-policy is going well, the military, i hope th

to gill that deficit gap. we are totally confident this is a revenue neutral bill, and probably a revenue producer. i m not somebody who believes you can just cut taxes everywhere and get more revenue. i m closer to the position of a deficit hawk. with me now, republican representative ryan costello of california who plans to retire from congress at the end of this term. good to have you here. good to be with you. mitch mcconnell was wrong. he would be right about the fact if we grow at four tenths of a point on average high over ten years, you don t have the estimated trillion dollar deficit. if we grew it 8 act, we could all have ponies for everyone. four tenths is not that much on a ten-year average if you re combining it with other pro-growth policies. it s expanded the deficit, do you agree? yes. okay, good. but and that was let s other caveats in there.
