A service member working with infants in intensive care was removed from her post at U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa after making online threats to children she worked with, according to a spokeswoman for the Defense Health Agency.
Earlier this year, the military opened the Red Hill Clinic to provide treatment to those facing long-term health effects from the November 2021 jet fuel water crisis. It has seen about 130 patients since it opened in January, and about 75 have been referred to specialty care, as reported by the Defense Health Agency. HPR's Sabrina Bodon has more.
The Defense Health Agency Region Indo-Pacific clinic started serving military members and their families in January to address long-term health effects related to the Red Hill fuel spill. Civilians on the Navy's water system from November 2021 to March 2022 are now eligible for the same care as of Monday.
For the next year, the Defense Health Agency Region Indo-Pacific will provide medical assessments to any civilians who worked or lived on base between Nov. 20, 2021 and March 18, 2022 and who have persistent symptoms.
