Dungeons & Dragons AAA Open World RPG Coming from Hidden Path Mar 4, 2021 04:23 EST
Hidden Path is hiring! We are in development on a AAA, third-person, open-world fantasy RPG that will be taking place inside the Dungeons & Dragons franchise.

The Bellevue-based studio Hidden Path Entertainment is known to gamers for titles like Defense Grid, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Age of Empires II HD Edition. Producing a large scale open world RPG is certainly a new endeavor for Hidden Path, though, which is likely why they re hiring additional talent to make it happen.
This is a reminder that Dungeons & Dragons doesn t necessarily mean Forgotten Realms will be used as a setting, of course. There are plenty of exciting settings, from the first published Greyhawk authored by Gary Gygax himself to Eberron (used in the MMO Dungeons & Dragons Online) and the aforementioned gothic horror world of Ravenloft.

Hasbro, the parent company of Wizards of the Coast, is reorganizing its business structure in order to continue growing the audience for
Dungeons & Dragons.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Wizards of the Coast, based in Renton, Wash., posted revenue of $816 million for 2020, a 24% increase from 2019. That bump comes in large part from record-setting sales for both
Dungeons & Dragons, the landmark fantasy role-playing game, and
Magic: The Gathering, the collectible card game that put Wizards on the map back in the ’90s.
