Flames are moving through the Community Center behind me. Despite the effort of the fires you can see there is no sign of stopping. Dark smoke and flames coming out of the roof of the building and there are many crews just starting with dozen fire trucks at this point. The call came in before 4 00 a. M. And this is now a threealarm fire at the millbrae Community Center. Can you see from the video the flames are rip through the build ing and it is at 477 lincoln center. There is a library inside, a studio space for activities and on the other side of the building is a park with barbecue pits. The good news is there are not any other buildings threatened at this point because it is just a Community Center and a large park area. Crass the street there are apartment complicates. Flag raising ceremony this morning at the venetian Military Cemetery. The graves are mostly u. S. Military Service Members but there are a few for german and italian prisoners of war from world war ii. Its the oldest Military Cemetery in the western United States. I just respect all the veterans that went to war and died for our country, so i also really like this town and its services for veterans. Its both a somber event but also an event that i think elevates peoples patriotism and its a great opportunity to recognize the ultimate sacrifices made by those who died defending our country. There are 211 people. This evening there will be a special memorial day vigil held at the crosses of lafayette. The peace and Justice Centers are inviting the public to gather at 7 00 at the crosses on deer hill road. Organizers say the event is designed to give people an outlet to express sadness over the ongoing wars in the middle east. Theyre working to create a world where war is unacceptable. Wh
