Coimbatore: Tirupur city police commissioner V Vanitha has ordered to implement the provision of mandatory weekly off for all the police personnel from the rank of inspectors to constables without any fail. A few days ago, Coimbatore city police commissioner Deepak M Damor had made the provision of mandatory weekly off compulsory for the police personnel from the rank of deputy police commissioner (DCP) to constable. According to a police source, while the compulsory weekly off system for the police personnel in the rank of inspector to grade-II constable was there in place already, they couldn’t avail the same because of the workload. “We were, however, allowed to take off on our birthdays and wedding anniversaries.”

The weekly off system will help lessen the work stress and they can spend more time with their families,” the top cop said. In an order on June 29, Deepak M Damor said DCP (law & order) T Jayachandran could avail the weekly offs on July 3, 11, 17, 25 and 31, when DCP (crime) E S Uma or DCP (headquarters) S Selvaraj would hold the additional charge.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, INS Agrani said flying of non-conventional aerial objects (drones/unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)) are prohibited within 3km of the establishment.
