buyers the policy and what was going on with the school. they say white supremacist are enjoying this. they say that a because we send third and we distributed power. a quick word on that. san francisco is a deep blue city. this is not a political thing. s parents upset about how the school board acted over the past couple of years and they didn t have their priorities straight. this really goes to show you that parents have true power when it comes to having a say on their kids education and they banned together and fight back against the status quo. periods can get something done. this is a step in the right direction, getting the right people in the places for the school board but a better solution is having the money follow the child so parents can have real choice in their kids education and to provide real incentive for the public schools to do the right things. that is a lot of public schools very nervous. thank you, corey, thank you dr.
direction of our state. the fact that our state is so expensive. people are voting with their feet in california. they re leaving. families can t afford to stay here. the fact that we ve seen so many issues at our quality of life, exploding homelessness, crime rising to its highest level in over 13 years. and so there is an eagerness out here among by the way, people from all walks of life, all parts of the state, democrat, republican, and independent who want a change at the top, and look, i ve been known as somebody who is very pragmatic, as mayor of san diego who won in a deep blue city, in a deep blue state. i know that it takes all of us coming together, republicans and democrats, and that s really my closing message here in the final days of this campaign. and you mentioned some of those things common interest and concerns. california is the nation s largest state, and your state is the world s fifth largest economy ahead of the uk and india, according to the l.a. times.
journalist before taking office. do you know how long you would like it for, about 30 minutes. not quite to the president s taste. he has not been there nearly as often. barack obama went a fair amount as well. he is slated to go there next weekend, first time in a couple of months. that s not his style, as david has covered so extensively. on any down time he s spending time at his properties, not just mar-a-la mar-a-lago, but going to the golf course in suburban virginia. rare nights he leaves the white house in washington unless he s going to an event, he does not go socially to the restaurants in part because i think he s afraid of the reception he will get there in a deep blue city. only time he goes out for a soshl dinner, he goes to his hotel. really quickly, what does it say about the president wanting to host the taliban at camp david for that announcement that
prekindergarten. paid leave. the green new deal which he used to slam president trump this week where he called trump s buildings among the biggest polluters in the city. the mayor has been pushing democrats to go bigger and bolder. he sees new york as an example of what s possible. he s likely to argue he s made these things happen. he has to convince voters that the relatively unpopular mayor at 42% approval of a deep blue city can take on trump. interesting. all the different motivations. thank you very much. boeing is facing a new hurdle to get the 737 max jets back in the air. we ll tell you that next. after my dvt blood clot.
deep blue city in a deep blue state. the city council is run by democrats, school board run by democrats. if there s a problem in baltimore, the democrats built that. i know you talked about in your column this week how the new york times had a report studying the nation s 100 largest counties and the one where children faced the worst outside of escaping poverty is the city of baltimore. so do you think that this mayor and other officials there are scapegoating the cops to write off long-existing problems in this town? that s exactly right. this the mayor is trying to distract from the real problem which is that their policies have failed to improve the lives of people in baltimore generally and particularly in the sandtown neighborhood. so think about this. since the war on poverty was started in the 1960s the poverty rate in america is 14.5%. that virtually unchanged since the 1960s in the baltimore, it s 24% and 35% for children. african-american young men have an unemploym
