Two brothers who got into an altercation over the use of screws were allowed to remain on $1000 bail when they appeared in the District ‘D’ Magistrates’ Court this week.Kurt Rohan Thompson, a 40-year-old steel bender and 48-year-old Kenny Ricardo Thompson, both from Hillaby, St Andrew, had previously appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the District ‘F’ Magistrates’ Court, where they were granted bail.However, when they appeared before Acting Magistrate Deborah Beckles they pleaded guilty to using unlawful violence to each other on October 27, 2022.
A St Peter man and another from St James, were remanded to Dodds on Monday on their first appearance before the District ‘D’ Magistrates’ Court.Shaquille Stefon Gibbons, of Gays, St Peter, appeared before Acting Magistrate Deborah Beckles in connection with burglary and criminal damage charges.It is alleged that sometime between October 21 and 25, the 25-year-old, entered Alun Griffith’s house as a trespasser and stole four televisions, a PlayStation; 16 PlayStation games; a DVD player; five speakers; 19 bottles of body wash; 34 bottles of conditioner; four pairs of slippers; and a number of assorted tools. The items were valued at $13 682.Gibbons is also accused that during the same period he unlawfully and without excuse damaged Griffith’s car intending to damage such property or was reckless as to whether such property would be damaged.
Acting Magistrate Deborah Beckles has imposed a combination sentence on a 45-year-old man who admitted to assaulting his former long-term girlfriend.The District ‘D’ Magistrate ordered Anderson McDonald Best of Arthur Seat, St Thomas to compensate the virtual complainant $1 500 by January 31, 2023, or spend three months in prison.He was also placed on a bond to keep the peace and be of good behaviour for 12 months. If Best breaches that order he will spend six months in jail.He pleaded guilty to assaulting Stephanie Peters on October 3, causing her actual harm.
A St Michael man who admitted to assaulting his former girlfriend and damaging her phone will know his fate in December.When Gabriel Alonzo Payne, 29, of 1st Avenue Grazettes New Land, St Michael, appeared in the District ‘D’ Magistrates’ Court, he was granted bail in the sum of $3 000 by acting Magistrate Deborah Beckles.He pleaded guilty to assaulting Kedijah Catlin occasioning her actual bodily harm and damaging her cellular phone.Both offences took place on September 3, 2022.Payne also faces two other charges to which he was not required to plead as they occurred in the District ‘A’ jurisdiction.
