Staten Island, NY A new building with a rooftop terrace, welcoming design and ample community space will bring much-needed affordable housing to Staten Island’s North Shore.
Today, Friday, April 16, 2021, the last beam was laid on the structure at the corner of Castleton and Port Richmond avenues in Port Richmond. Attending the ceremony were not-for-profit leaders and the builders who have been working to make it all happen. The project is a partnership between Hudson Development and Project Hospitality.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. A new Spectrum Learning Lab has opened at Central Family Life Center, Inc. (CFLC), a Stapleton-based non-profit organization that seeks to improve the lives and environment of the Staten Island community.
On April 8, the celebration of the new Spectrum Learning Lab was marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at CFLC’s Staten Island headquarters at 59 Wright St. that included local officials, leaders from CFLC and Spectrum.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Staten Island’s new bike share program, which was expected to begin this month, has been canceled just weeks before its initial rollout.
On Tuesday, Beryl, the U.K.-based bike share provider that had been slated to operate the borough’s new program, announced that it would no longer launch on Staten Island, citing logistical complications related to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. In a field as crowded as the North Shore City Council race, any endorsement counts, especially if it’s from the woman who’s held the seat for over a decade.
Councilwoman Debi Rose (D-North Shore) made her voice heard earlier this month when, of the 15 candidates, she chose to endorse local Democratic operative Selina Grey, who has ties to the councilwoman.
Amid talks about role of school safety agents, dozens gather at Graniteville church to discuss concerns

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. More than 40 people gathered in the parking lot of the International Christian Center in Graniteville Monday afternoon to voice concerns amid the ongoing conversation about the role of school safety agents.
“Most people don’t really know what school safety does,” said Harold Wise, a school safety agent for the past 18 years and an organizer of Monday’s event who conducts community outreach on Staten Island. “There are school safety agents like myself that run programs after school and we don’t get paid for it. And when the kids need someone to speak to, they speak to us.”
