Members of Waterford s LGBT+ community are calling for greater services for adults in the city

By Eoghan Dalton Members of Waterford’s LGBT+ community are calling for greater services for adults in the city. It comes as a fundraiser for a so-called ‘Gay Cafe’ for Waterford has raised almost €10,000 in recent days, with it promising to be a space to help people accept “their sexuality a lot sooner” than otherwise. The proposal has been welcomed by a number of the Déise’s own LGBT+ community as there are no designated spaces for people beyond the age of 18. Alana Daly Mulligan views Waterford as safe but has been “spat at” in venues with her partner, and sees the provision of such a “visible space” as important.
