AHMEDABAD/RAJKOT: All through the pandemic, Covid-19 was considered to be largely an urban phenomenon. The current wave however has changed the picture drastically with 37% of the daily cases getting reported from outside eight municipal corporation areas. In villages, the pandemic has struck hard taking the people with limited health infrastructure and fewer doctors completely off guard.
Comparing the last 30 days (April 5 to May 4) with previous 30 days (March 5 to April 4) reveal that the earlier share of non-municipal corporation areas was average 10%, which rose to an average 32%, recording rise of 22% in a month.

deaths due to Covid-19 and complete vaccination of senior citizens by April 15. Chahal told Mumbai Mirror that the process of vaccinating the huge population of senior citizens in the city is being speeded up with the help of private hospitals. Apart from the BMC and state health network, 121 private hospitals have been given permission to vaccinate the population, he said. “We have 25 lakh senior citizens in Mumbai, and we plan to complete their vaccination by April 15.
