An 82-year-old man has been indicted in connection with a December incident where his car drove through the glass facade of a Parkville business, killing someone inside.
Prosecutors say Louis Anthony Fernandez faces charges including vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving. Vehicular manslaughter carries up to 10 years in prison.
On Dec. 18, a Subaru Outback drove through the glass windows of Parkville Crabs, killing 35-year-old Deanna Jean Allik. She was 35.

Cars hit buildings more often than you think
H Street’s cluster of cars hitting buildings may be notable, but H Street isn’t alone even being inside a building isn’t enough to guarantee you won’t be injured by a car. Streetsblog reported in February that drivers crash cars into buildings as much as 60 times per day on average in the US, killing hundreds of people and injuring thousands each year.
The Storefront Safety Council, an advocacy group working to limit vehicle-into-building collisions, has tracked more than 30 instances of cars crashing into businesses, government buildings, and bus stops in the region in 2020 alone. Other car-into-building collisions have damaged property and hurt pedestrians in the region just over the last few months.

PARKVILLE, MD After one person was killed inside a Parkville restaurant Friday, police have identified the victim.
Deanna Jean Allik, 35, of the 8100 block of Harford Road, died as a result of a crash into Parkville Crabs, according to officials.
Officers had been in the area of the 7800 block of Harford Road when they said a Subaru Outback drove from the parking lot into a glass window at Parkville Crabs.

Police said Allik, who was inside the carryout restaurant, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
