SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Saturday rued the unfair mode of selection of DDC Chairman Budgam, terming the entire exercise a clear violation of law and rules.
Interacting with a delegation of party’s eight DDC Members from District Budgam who had called on him at his residence in Srinagar, Party Vice President rued the active involvement of the district Administration which he said issued blatant threats about the power to detain people for two years.
“Flawing all norms the administration is playing partisan to curry favor with particular DDC members; the mode and manner in which the election of DDC Chairman was conducted is a point in case. The manner in which the normal course of election of DDC Chairman at Budgam was fiddled is an indictment of the aversion the ruling dispensation nurtures for due democratic values. PAGD Wins DDC Chairperson Post in Jammu and Kashmir s Anantnag

In the fourth phase of the polls on Thursday, the election was conducted in Anantnag district in south Kashmir and the PAGD, which also includes the National Conference (NC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), won both the posts of the chairperson as well as the vice-chairperson, the officials said.

The People s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) won the election for the post of chairperson of the District Development Council (DDC) in Anantnag district held on Thursday, officials said. PAGD is an amalgam of six parties seeking the restoration of the special status of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
SRINAGAR: Nine DDC Members headed by Party’s District President Budgam called on Party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar here at Party Head quarters Nawa e Subha. The delegation of 8 DDC members from NC and one DDC member of PAGD apprised the party general secretary about the clumsy and unfair mode of election and lottery system employed for the election of DDC chairman.
The visiting delegation acquainted how the local administration favored a particular DDC member to benefit him in the election by ditching all established norms and rules.
