Dr. Christine M. Warnke was recognized and honored in a ceremonial resolution, sponsored by Council member Anita Bonds for her continued advocacy and philanthropy to Washington, D.C., and its people. Â
The Council of the District of Columbia listed the many achievements of Warnke, a native Washingtonian and lifelong resident of the District of Columbia, born to Greek immigrants.
She was honored during Women s History Month and in honor of the many Greek Americans celebrating the 200th anniversary of Greece s independence. I am most grateful to Council member Anita Bonds and all of the D.C. Council for this special recognition, Warnke said. Growing up in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area gave me such a unique understanding of the value for respect of all citizens of the world.
D.C. Congressional Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton earlier this month named longtime D.C. LGBTQ rights advocate and Ward 8 community leader Phil Pannell to a commission that will help Norton recommend to President Joe Biden the nomination of federal judges and other federal law enforcement officials in D.C.
