Captain Cold heads back to The CW: Wentworth Miller will reprise his Captain Cold (aka Leonard Snart) role for the 100th episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
Over the course of five-and-a-half seasons, The CW’s
Legends of Tomorrow has found more than a few weird ways to save the world but the latest is a true mic-drop.
Literally.
This Sunday’s new episode, “The Ex-Factor,” finds Zari Tarazi (played by Tala Ashe) returning to her old life in the 2040s to jump into a hit singing competition to take on a world-conquering alien. The winner of the competition? They get to rule the planet Earth.
Yeah, no pressure.
But, it wasn’t the world-saving stakes that got to Ashe, she tells SYFY WIRE in an exclusive interview. It was more the pressure of actually having to channel her inner pop-star on stage, complete with dance moves, back-up dancers, effects and a couple of should-be hit singles.

Tell me a bit about yourself and career.
I grew up in Denmark and moved to Vancouver, Canada in late 2011. I took part-time acting classes for a couple of years before committing to making it a career. My first professional acting job was on The 100 in 2015 and Iâve since worked on a wide range of TV shows and movies like The Haunting of Bly Manor, Supernatural and Virgin River.
To play one of the most recognizable legendary artists of all time (and one of my own favourites) was just a scary challenge I couldnât possibly turn down! I played in a rock band for years when I still lived in Denmark so to play a musician was actually something Iâve always wanted to do. My dadâs from London so I had most of the accent down, I mainly had to work on the Bowie-isms and, of course, the vocals!
Zari first appears in Legends third season. She s an Iranian American hacker and activist who hails from a dystopian future where her family was persecuted for practicing their faith. When she initially encounters the Legends, she tricks them into helping her retrieve a mystical amulet known as the Air Totem that had once belonged to her dead brother Behrad (Shayan Sobhian), who had been tragically killed by A.R.G.U.S. agents. She ultimately decides to remain with the group when team member Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) offers to help her learn how to use her new powers.

The reason we did that originally is that we broke it as live-action, and then there s a point in the story where it becomes so outlandish that I was really having a difficult time seeing it in my head as live-action,” he explained. “I was like, Guys, this feels like a 90s Disney movie. It was sort of a joke. What if we hired a bunch of Disney animators from the 90s who have all retired and did a 90s feature thing?’”
