The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an officer of Standard Chartered Bank, Chennai, in a case of demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 3 lakh from a borrowing company. The CBI recovered Rs 18 lakh, property documents and locker keys after raids in the premise of the accused - Rajendran, Authorised Officer, Standard Chartered Bank, Group Special Assets Management, Rajaji Salai, Chennai.

Synopsis
The first case was registered by the agency in July last year whereby the agency had arrested a relationship Manager and Rural Sales Executive of HDFC Bank in Pune for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs two lakhs.
In what appears to be noose tightening around officials of private banks indulging in alleged wrongdoings and corruption, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday registered another case of bribery against an official of Standard Chartered Bank, Chennai.
The authorised officer allegedly demanded the bribe from a Coimbatore-based firm facing loan default of over Rs 36 crore to help in arranging one-time settlement.
