far, so good, i think we re on a glide path. i thought finestein, durbin, coons and there could be those saying we re not all about the resistance. let s get to the shutdown. day 26 right now. all of us have been chronicling how this is affecting real people, the economy. listen to people affected by this have been telling us. he is earning his paycheck, but he s just not getting it. shut down is not just a washington, d.c. d.c. problem. it s affecting real people here in iowa. getting our pay stubs on thursday and seeing zero dollars is just very disheartening. it makes it hard to wake up and want to go to work. it s important that the people that maybe around owe affected by it, whether they don t have a government job or they ve never received assistance, they need to see the faces of the people that it is affecting. zach, what for you

it s starting to set in on people. for the first few weeks they weren t paying much attention. now it s like, what s going on down there? can t they just serve the country? it seems like a number of them are afraid to step off of the curb to the street and say, let s do this. that s not good. both sides will have to give something, get it done, move on. it s hurting people. it is. you were involved with shutdowns that involved the entire budget. this is over a relatively small amount of money in terms of the budget. right. we are getting a report from the white house it s twice as big of an impact on gdp. i saw that. who knew a government shutdown that might put the pressure on the administration to move. my sense is, you know, i was never the president. as a governor we never had a shutdown. i think it is incumbent upon the leader to be able to try to bring people together and get something done. i don t see it. it takes both sides.
he leaned into the idea of him or whatever the ag is giving a report of their own to congress and summarizing the findings. that s probably donald trump s best hope. it is unlikely the full report doesn t ultimately leak. that s the nature of these things. if it leaks as opposed to being released publicly it becomes a fraught document where we know what the president does with these things. we have to assume he ll have the same practice where he ll call it fake or twisted and so forth. that just allows everybody to settle into pre-existing conclusions. the longest government shutdown in u.s. history, day 26. the white house team of economists says it is twice as bad for the economy as predicted. what are you hearing about whether or not this white house and this president feels the sting and it may cause movement? i think there is a divide between the president and this white house. a lot of people in the white house have been privately urging him to move on, get this done with, be
