Everglades and Dry Tortugas National Parks will waive their entrance fee on six days in 2021.
The fee-free days are part of the Trump Administrationâs unprecedented commitment to increase access, promote recreational opportunities, improve visitor facilities and conserve natural and historical treasures in national parks for the benefit and enjoyment of the American people.
The six entrance fee-free days for 2021 will be:
⢠Monday, January 18 â Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
⢠Saturday, April 17 â First Day of National Park Week
⢠Wednesday, August 4 â Great American Outdoors Act anniversary
⢠Wednesday, August 25 â National Park Service Birthday
⢠Saturday, September 25 â National Public Lands Day
⢠Thursday, November 11 â Veterans Day

According to the Wood County Alternative Transportation Council (WCATC), The Ohio River Water Trail in Parkersburg has been designated a National Recreation Trail-National Water Trail by U.S. Secretary of The Interior, David L. Bernhardt. The 57.7-mile trail is managed jointly by the Wood County Alternative Transportation Council and the Greater Parkersburg CVB on behalf of the Wood County Commission and provides accessible recreation opportunities for residents and visitors to Parkersburg with 13 river access points, parking and boat ramps, half of which are accessible for people with disabilities.
The announcement by Secretary Bernhardt named 30 new national recreation trails in 25 states adding more than 1,275 miles to the National Trails System. “American Trails promotes and maintains the database of our country’s National Recreation Trails (NRT) and applauds this new slate of Secretarial designations from the Department of the Interior,” said NRT Executive

The National Park Service temporarily closed the Washington Monument on Friday after a recent visit by Interior Secretary David L. Bernhardt, who tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday.

Bernhardt, a Colorado native, visited the iconic District of Columbia monument recently, Interior Department spokesman Nicholas Goodwin said in an email.
Employees who came into contact with the secretary had to quarantine, leaving too few to safely operate the site. Tourists normally ride an elevator to the observation deck 500 feet up, where they can enjoy views for miles.
Subscribe Out of an abundance of caution, a couple of employees have quarantined resulting in a temporary workforce reduction at the monument and its temporary closure, Goodwin wrote.
