Long before Aspen Gay Ski Week encompassed eight days worth of programming; was tied to a charitable cause and raised funds in the six digits to give back to the LGBTQ+ community via grants, programs, and scholarships; drew thousands of participants from across the world with sold-out events and passes in record time; and was smoothly run by a savvy staff and dedicated board of directors, it had humble beginnings.
No matter how you feel about the week of bacchanalia that accompanies Aspen Gay Ski Week (AGSW) you have to admit the annual event does bring copious color to our slopes. This year marks the 47th time that the LGBTQ+ community has come to this town to celebrate the oldest gay ski gathering in the country. And boy do they have fun.
