(The Center Square) â The Department of Treasury released more details Wednesday of a planned $2.5 trillion tax hike to fund President Joe Bidenâs sweeping infrastructure bill.
The Biden administrationâs 19-page âMade in America Tax Plan,â focuses on raising taxes on corporations and preventing them from moving profits overseas. The plan claims to raise $2.5 trillion over 15 years.
The tax hike has raised concerns from economists, Republicans and some Democrats. U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.V., one of the more moderate Democrats in the Senate and a key vote for Democratic leadership, has voiced opposition to Bidenâs current plan.

His early legislative agenda is already running up a tab in the trillions of dollars. His infrastructure plan goes way beyond fixing roads and bridges, extending to care for the elderly and disabled, paid family and medical leave, and funds for housing and clean water programs. He and his Cabinet have made public proclamations supporting federal workers and government scientists.
This week the $1.9 trillion “American Rescue Plan” was passed. Yet only a paltry 9% (or less) of the stimulus will be spent on actual public health measures. Rather, it is a wish list of the left’s pet projects that has very little to do with reducing the spread of the virus.
