The city reached an agreement with civil rights attorneys suing the department and calling for a federal takeover. Under this agreement, just approved by a federal judge, oakland will have to hire someone to oversee police reforms. They will pay the salary but that person will report to the judge and have broad powers including firing officers including the chief. It stems from the allegations of four officers who called themselves the riders and were accused a number years ago of handing out vigilanti justice on the streets of oakland. Developing news, authorities have caught up with Software Company john mcafee. He was arrested in guatemala accused of entering the country illegally. This is a story we first told but yesterday. The Alameda County Transportation Commission says it will no longer challenge the results from measure b1. The measure which would have have meant billions for transportation projects lost by a razorthin margin. The commission wanted to spend nearly 5,000 per day for a hand recount. Elections officials said the measure probably wouldnt get enough votes. Pesky birds have been a thorn in the sign for barts new extension to silicon valley. And shooing them away has cost taxpayers millions of dollars. Cbs 5 reporter Ann Notarangelo explains saving birds turned out to be a projector much larger than expected. 1 is closed to traffic tonight after washing out part of the roadway. The rain has moved on, but the storm damage remains. One problem pot is highway 1 in sonoma county. A five mile stretch of the highway was closed between jener and fort ross. Ken wayne got a close up look at the slide. Reporter the roads are still wet here in sonoma county. Weve seen first hand what happens when the ground becomes saturated. This is highway 1, just south of fort ross. The saturated soil gave way just beneath the roadway, taking part of the asphalt, and leaving a stretch of guardrail dangling beneath the cliff. We came this way this morning, and we were able to get through, so the kind of a bummer that we cant go back. Reporter so far, the closure hasnt affected business at the timber cove inn.
