PUTRAJAYA: The prosecution failed in its appeal in the Federal Court to forfeit monies and properties valued at more than RM37 million from Bintulu Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and eight other respondents in relation to the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) project.
A three-member bench comprising Federal Court judges Datuk Vernon Ong Lam Kiat, Datuk Zabariah Mohd Yusof and Datuk Seri Hasnah Mohammed Hashim dismissed the prosecution’s appeal.
The court’s verdict was delivered by Justice Hasnah, who said that after reading the affidavit in its entirety, the Federal Court agreed with the Court of Appeal that the prosecution failed to identify the nature and extent of participation of the respondents in money laundering activities to procure the properties.
PUTRAJAYA (Jan 10): The Court of Appeal (COA) has fixed Sept 17 to hear the appeal of Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar (pictured) over having to pay RM150,000 to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for defaming him 13 years ago.
The date was fixed by COA deputy registrar Mohd Khairy Haron, after case management was done on Friday.

It was reported that the Federal Court had on Dec 15 allowed Khairy s appeal for his case to be reheard on its full merits at the COA.
The bench, led by Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Datuk Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim, unanimously allowed the appeal from Khairy, who is also the Rembau Member of Parliament (MP), and ordered Anwar to pay RM30,000 as costs.

PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Court here today reserved its decision on the PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s legal questions on the constitutionality of the National Security Council Act (NSCA) 2016.
A seven-man bench led by Federal Court judge Datuk Vernon Ong Lam Kiat said the court would take time to consider the matter and would inform parties once they were ready with the decision date.
The other judges presiding on the bench were Federal Court judges Puan Sri Zaleha Yusof, Datuk Zabariah Mohd Yusof, Datuk Seri Hasnah Mohammed Hashim, Datuk Mary Lim Thiam Suan, Datuk Harmindar Singh Dhaliwal and Datuk Rhodzariah Bujang.
