Perak Islamic Religion and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) president Datuk Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini said the Sultan also consented to allow all surau in police and military camps, office buildings, institutions, universities, polytechnics, colleges, schools, companies and factories to hold Friday prayers to enable as many Muslims as possible to perform it.

IPOH: The congregation limit for mosques and surau in Perak will be raised to 120 people from Wednesday (Feb 10). Perak Islamic Religion and Malay Custom Council (MAIPk) president Datuk Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini said the number does not include the imam and mosques’ officers. He said the congregation is allowed to attend Friday prayers, fardhu (compulsory) prayers, funeral prayers and mass prayers (solat berjemaah). “Perak Ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah has granted approval for the additional attendees for mosques and surau in the state. “For main mosques in districts, such as Masjid Sultan Idris Shah (Masjid Negeri) and Masjid Sultan Azlan Shah in Ipoh, and Masjid Ubudiah in Kuala Kangsar, a total of 250 attendees are permitted, ” he said in a statement.

IPOH: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, has given his consent to allow Friday prayers, obligatory (fard) prayers and funeral prayers to be performed at mosques and surau statewide with a maximum of 120 people compared to 40 previously excluding mosque official and committee members throughout the Movement Control Order period, beginning tomorrow. Perak Islamic Religion and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) president Datuk Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini said the consent was given upon advice by the Perak Fatwa Committee as well as the Ministry of Health and the state National Security Council.

Perak mosques and surau open for prayers

IPOH: Mosques and surau in Perak can hold prayer sessions starting Thursday (Jan 28). In a statement, state Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council president Datuk Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini said only a maximum of 40 people, excluding mosque and surau officials or committee members, could perform daily, Friday and funeral prayers in the premises at any one time. Mohd Annuar said Perak Ruler, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, has given his consent after considering the proposal by the council. Only those aged between 16 and 70 are allowed to pray at mosques and suraus. Friday prayers can also be held at surau in office buildings, institutions, universities, schools, college companies and factories, he said.

Mind your manners, PAS told

PETALING JAYA: Member of Dewan Negara Perak (Advisory Council to the Ruler) Datuk Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini has reprimanded PAS after the party’s news portal Harakahdaily allegedly showed disrespect to the Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah. He said he had issued several statements via Facebook on the need for PAS to show respect to the Sultan of Perak. He said his Facebook posts were a criticism of how the news portal did not adhere to palace protocol that must be respected by the media when it involved news reports that touched on the Perak Ruler. “I will speak out against any individual or party who show disrespect to the Ruler. I am not hitting out at PAS per se.
