IPOH: The congregation limit for mosques and surau in Perak will be raised to 120 people from Wednesday (Feb 10).
Perak Islamic Religion and Malay Custom Council (MAIPk) president Datuk Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini said the number does not include the imam and mosques’ officers.
He said the congregation is allowed to attend Friday prayers, fardhu (compulsory) prayers, funeral prayers and mass prayers (solat berjemaah).
“Perak Ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah has granted approval for the additional attendees for mosques and surau in the state.
“For main mosques in districts, such as Masjid Sultan Idris Shah (Masjid Negeri) and Masjid Sultan Azlan Shah in Ipoh, and Masjid Ubudiah in Kuala Kangsar, a total of 250 attendees are permitted, ” he said in a statement.
