PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal has set July 7 to hear the appeals by 14 individuals, including two brothers of businessman, Nicky Liow Soon Hee (pic), to be freed from the charges of being involved in the organised crime group known as "Nicky Gang”.

14 men given discharge not amounting to acquittal

SHAH ALAM: Fourteen individuals including four Chinese nationals, as well as two siblings of fugitive businessman Nicky Liow Soon Hee have been given a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA).The group was given a DNAA from charges of being involved in an organised crime group known as Nicky Gang by the High Court here.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay (pic) said they were charged for money laundering activities for the benefit of the gang. He added that the gang’s alleged leader, Datuk Seri Nicky Liow Soon Hee, was charged under Section 130V of the Penal Code together with his personal assistant, who is also believed to be a gang member. “Nicky and his assistant, a female Chinese national named Niu Zhe, were charged with being members of an organised criminal group, Comm Ayob Khan said in a statement on Friday (April 9). Nicky and Niu were charged in absentia as both suspects are still at large.
