A new mobile testing site will be available at Ewood Park People who live, work or study in parts of Blackburn where Covid cases are rising are strongly encouraged to take a Covid-19 PCR test, whether they are showing symptoms or not, to help track the spread of the latest variant of concern. Those in areas with BB1 and BB2 postcodes are asked to come forward and take a test as the borough has now taken the top spot in the national table of areas with the most Covid cases. Blackburn with Darwen Council say this is due, in part, to the latest variant of concern, the variant first identified in India which is now known as VOC-21APR-02.

Having recently been promoted to the Premier League the club was setting out to transform the ground and by 1995 would be celebrating lifting the Premier League trophy. BLACKBURN with Darwen has three vaccination centres and five coronavirus testing centres. For immunisation jabs residents will be contacted by letter, email or a text message from the NHS inviting them to book an appointment. They should not seek inoculations without being asked. The three vaccination centres are Blackburn Cathedral, the Barbara Castle Way Health Centre and Darwen Health Centre. Two of the Covid-19 testing centres offer quick-turnaround SMART testing for people without symptoms who have to leave their home to work during the lockdown.They should get tested at least once a week. The SMART ‘lateral flow’ tests are available at Ewood Park’s Darwen End from 1am to 6.30pm and King George’s Hall in Blackburn town centre from 10am to 5.30pm.
