And a few scattered showers this morning, right, michelle . Thats right. Well see it all throughout the day. We certainly have the fog in place and showers on and off throughout the day, clouds maybe even a thunderstorm later on this afternoon. Heres a laif look outside. You can tell where that fog is. We are looking at radar showing us we have rain moving through once again this morning so keep that umbrella handy as
Lone gunman inside the Lindt Chocolate cafe. The situation is unfolding in martin place a plaza in the heart of sydneys financial and shopping district typically packed during the holiday season. A black flag with white arabic lettering can be seen in the window at one point during the standoff. We dont yet know the motivation of the perpetrator. We dont know whether this is politically motivated although obviously there are some indications that it could be. Reporter news of the standoff spread shortly after police discovered a suspicious package at the famous sydney opera house. Its not known if the two incidents are related. New South Wales Police are handling the standoff as a country watches the tense situation unfold. I can think of almost nothing more distressing, more terrifying than to be caught up in such a situation and our hearts go out to those people. Still shanes family says their strength came from the support of an entire community. Meteorologist Michelle Grossman is tracking the damp and mild conditions today. As i was driving into work, a little bit difficult to see in some spots. We have fog all across the area. We have visibilities down to a half mile in many many spots. Youre waking up to a gray day, the fog, some rain across the area. You could see some fog behind that sign there. Youre going to encounter that as youre on the roadway today. Some visibility is reduced down to a half mile. Taking a look at radar, we are damp this morning. Seeing it moving through, especially in the western part of our viewing area. Well see that over the next several hours. So rain this morning and a chance for showers throughout the rest of today. Temperatures, they are very mild this morning compared to yesterday, 43. In philadelphia were in the 30 toss the north and west. 35 in allentown. Look to the south and east. 31 30 degrees across the region. During the Early Morning hours were in the 20s and we see the snow beginning to stick and then occasional snow showers during the morning period. After 2 oclock, there may be a lull in the precipitation and then we see that second part of the storm, the Coastal Development really begin to develop off the coast and push that moisture back toward the shore and also south jersey by about 6, 7 oclock in the evening. For part one we are just looking at a very light event for the clipper. Periods light snow during the day monday, 1 to 3 inches of accumulation about an inch, maybe two in the city a little more to the north and west and then a possibility of a lull in the precip. May not stop but just a lull between 2 00 and 6 00 before the second part of the storm the big storm actually develops.
