State police say they pulled over Darrin Clemons and Erin Cook earlier this month.
Troopers say Clemons had an expired license and they found a scale and a knife with white residue on him, and that Cook first gave a false name.
After searching the vehicle, troopers found straws with white residue, small clear baggies, two pipes and several other items related to narcotics use and trafficking.
Both are expected to be back in court next month.

ALPENA A traffic stop for a minor infraction led Michigan State Police troopers to discover illegal narcotics when an Alpena man, Darrin Clemons, 51, was stopped on Dec. 7 for not wearing his seatbelt, police reported.
Clemons, who police said was driving with an expired license, was asked to get out of his vehicle and was patted down by police, who found a scale and knife with white residue, according to a news release.
Inside the vehicle, police found rubber and plastic straws and small, clear plastic baggies with white residue and other items related to narcotics use and trafficking, police said. The white residue tested positive for methamphetamine.
