ALPENA — A traffic stop for a minor infraction led Michigan State Police troopers to discover illegal narcotics when an Alpena man, Darrin Clemons, 51, was stopped on Dec. 7 for not wearing his seatbelt, police reported.
Clemons, who police said was driving with an expired license, was asked to get out of his vehicle and was patted down by police, who found a scale and knife with white residue, according to a news release.
Inside the vehicle, police found rubber and plastic straws and small, clear plastic baggies with white residue and other items related to narcotics use and trafficking, police said. The white residue tested positive for methamphetamine.
