MOLINE, Ill. Nearly three decades have passed since a man walking in Moline’s old 17th Street Park found a trash bag containing the body of an infant girl floating along the shores of the Mississippi River.

MOLINE, Ill. (AP) An Ohio woman has been charged with murder in the death of an infant whose body was found in a trash bag floating along the shores of Mississippi River nearly 30 years ago.
An arrest warrant was issued Thursday for Angela Siebke, 47, of Whitehall, Ohio, and formerly of Orion, Illinois. She was being held in the Rock Island County Jail with bail set at $1 million, the Quad-City Times reported.
The child became known as “Baby April” for the month in 1992 when her body was found.
Moline Police Chief Darren Gault credited the diligence of detectives and advancements in the use of DNA for the arrest.

Siebke made her first appearance in court virtually Friday, December 18 in Rock Island County. First Degree Murder Charges were read to her and her private attorneys. A preliminary hearing set is for December 29 at 11 A.M.

Twenty eight years after the body of a baby was found along the river in Moline, police believe they ve solved the case. Thursday Chief Darren Gault announced the arrest of 47 year year old Angela Siebke of Whitehall Ohio, formerly of Orion, Illinois.
In April of 1992, the body of a female infant was discovered in a trash bag in the Mississippi River at 17th Street. No parents were found, she was named Baby April, and buried in Riverside Cemetery.

DNA from the chld was saved, and in 2014, a DNA profile of the mother was developed and a first degree murder charge was filed against the unknown woman matching that profile.
