Foo Fighters Celebrate Dave Grohl s Birthday

Hot on the heels of “No Son of Mine,” Foo Fighters unleash another dose of Medicine at Midnight in the form of “Waiting on a War”. The track is a sprawling melodic opus that gradually builds to a patented FF rave-up. If “Waiting on a War” seems to have an especially emotional heft to its lyrics, well, that’s because it does. Dave Grohl recounts the personal anecdote that inspired the song: Last fall, as I was driving my daughter to school, she turned to me and asked, “Daddy, is there going to be a war?” My heart sank as I realized that she was now living under the same dark cloud that I had felt 40 years ago.

Foo Fighters share new single No Son Of Mine and unveil album tracklist

Foo Fighters (Picture: Danny Clinch / Press) Foo Fighters have shared the second single from their forthcoming new album ‘Medicine At Midnight’ – listen to ‘No Son Of Mine’ below. The ear-ringing new track – which follows ‘Shame Shame’, the first preview of the band’s 10th studio album – was teased earlier in the week when the band shared a snippet on social media, accompanied by the caption: “New year. New music.” Drawing on familiar Foo Fighters influences, ‘No Son Of Mine’ features nods to Queen‘s ‘Stone Cold Crazy’ and Ace of Spades-era Motörhead. Advertisement “This is the kind of song that just resides in all of us and if it makes sense at the time, we let it out,” frontman Dave Grohl said of the track. “Lyrically it’s meant to poke at the hypocrisy of self righteous leaders, people that are guilty of committing the crimes they’re supposedly against.”
