A man is in custody and facing arson charges after allegedly pouring camping fuel in several aisles and starting four separate fires at a Walmart on Thursday, the Englewood Police Department said.
Officers responded to the store at 601 Englewood Parkway after reports of a man starting a fire in several aisles about 10:30 a.m.
Police said there were 135 customers and 40 employees in the store at the time of the incident.
The fires burned out shortly after igniting, but caused damage to floor tiles, shelves and merchandise.
The suspect, 43-year-old Darius Harper, fled the store after allegedly starting the fires and was apprehended after resisting on a bike path near South Santa Fe Drive and West Dartmouth Avenue, several blocks away, police said.
