Peter said the financial and mental toll of a third lockdown has been the tipping point for many of his colleagues in barbering who hadn’t previously participated in the underground economy.
As soon as the rumour of a third shutdown came, my phone began going insane.
His clientele ranges from health-care professionals to factory workers to legal/law enforcement professionals.
Peter admitted he was nervous performing his first illicit haircut just before Christmas and disguised himself as a repairman.
“I resisted all the requests for a long time, but a lot of people were in a bad place mentally,” he said. “It wasn’t so much a haircut. Many of them just needed to see someone. It’s amazing what people will tell their barbers.

Windsor police have seized various illicit drugs following a month-long investigation.
The Drugs and Guns (DIGS) Unit began a probe in February into the alleged sale of illegal drugs within the city. An adult male was soon identified as a suspect.
Search warrants were obtained for two different residences, according to Constable Darius Goze. Minutes before the searches were started on Wednesday, the male suspect was found and taken into custody with illicit drugs found on him.
If he finds her, she fears the worst.
She feels like it’s a life sentence that the fear will never end.
“In the beginning, it was more mental, emotional, controlling behaviour,” said Stairs, a 30-year-old Windsor lawyer. “And then, as I said, in the last two weeks (of the relationship) it became physical assault.
“When I went to the police it was really because I was terrified in that moment. I had broken up with my boyfriend and was receiving really scary, threatening messages.”
It continues to weigh on her.
“What I wanted was to just be done with him,” Stairs said. “And for it all just to go away and to never have to deal with it again.
WINDSOR, ONT. WE Trans Support executive director Alexander Reid recalls the gut-wrenching feeling when he walked into work to witness not one, but three acts of vandalism in a week’s time. “It’s scary. Honestly, Reid said of the situation. It’s a really big disappointment.” The organization’s office had been defaced with homophobic slurs, swastikas, and windows were smashed but now local residents are stepping in to make sure the vandalism doesn’t get the last word. “I thought it was a wonderful idea to combat that vandalism with some positive affirmation, Reid said. “Some Messages of love and support for the queer and transgender community.”
