‘Only 4 labour officers for 63 brick kilns in ICT’
IHC summons a report into the matter.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has learnt that there are only four labour officers for 63 brick kilns and factories in the federal capital. IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah presided over a case pertaining to bonded labour in Islamabad on Thursday.
The court summoned directed the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hamza Shafqaat to resolve the matter and submit a report on it.
A member of the commission probing into bonded labour in the capital, advocate Umar Aijaz Gillani, told the court there are only four staffers in the labour department for the two million population of Islamabad.
LAHORE: A duty judicial magistrate at Model Town courts on Wednesday turned down a plea of PML-N MNA Javed Latif to discharge him in a case of inciting people against the state institutions and sent him to jail on judicial remand.
Earlier, the police produced Latif before the court in an armoured vehicle amid strict security arrangements on expiry of his physical remand.
Hundreds of party workers already gathered outside the courts complex showered rose petals on the vehicle carrying the MNA and chanted slogans in his favour.
Advocate Imtiaz Pahat argued on behalf of the opposition leader that the police failed to collect any cogent evidence against the accused during the physical remand. He asked the magistrate to discharge the accused from the case.

The PM has taken a vote of confidence from the National Assembly with 178 members reposing confidence. Out of this total, there were 16 members, who according to the PM himself, had sold their votes in favour of Yousaf Raza Gilani during the Senate elections.
If you exclude these 16, as surely one should, the PM is heading a minority government. With more than two and a half years still to go, is it really worth heading a minority government? More than anything else, will it even be possible to effectively govern?
The PM has clearly lost the mandate of the people as reflected in the recently held by-elections. The significance of the losses is even more when one considers that the ruling party lost in all four – provinces - Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and even in its stronghold Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Nowshera is the hometown of Defence Minister Pervez Khattak and losing a by-election from there is an extraordinary event.
ISLAMABAD: As the campaign for Senate elections in the country is ending with effect from the midnight today , the government and the opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Alliance have mounted.
