Local vaccine clinics pop up across region as state clinic prepares to leave

DANVILLE, Va. — Getting her community vaccinated is a personal mission for Rebecca Campbell, who lost her mother Elaine from COVID-19 at the end of July 2020. Rebecca, along with her father Danville City Councilman Larry Campbell, spoke of their personal testimony at the council meeting on April 20, when she approached the podium to speak during the public comment period about a vaccination clinic held at Bibleway Cathedral on Saturday, where her father serves as co-assistant pastor. “I hope our people in the community don’t take this lightly,” Campbell said in response to the announcement of the clinic. “It’s a very serious concern. I lost my wife. I almost died myself, and it’s not a pleasant experience. The least we can do if you can is protect yourself, protect your family, protect others.”
