Nbc 10 breaking news. That breaking news, a new Jersey Police officer has been shot and killed. Authorities say it happened while he was sitting in his own car. The officer died near a former Movie Theater off the garden state parkway in sayreville, Middlesex County. Matt delucia is here with the breaking details. Our sister station nbc 4 in new york is getting information from Law Enforcement sources with firsthand knowledge of the investigation. Here is what they are telling them. The sources say the officer was not on duty. He was in his personal car and may have been investigating a report of a suspicious person when he was ambushed. It is not known if the officer was able to fire back. Video from above the scene and the car shows what appears to be a shattered front passenger window. So far theres no word on the officers identity and the Law Enforcement sources are saying that he is a nineyear veteran of the force.
