Manchester City is once again claimed to be George Burley s source for new signings with Mark Kennedy and Danny Tiatto both mentioned in as Town targets. Kennedy had been reported to have committed to City, but now it is claimed he is off to Town for £1.5 million. We re not holding our breath.
Tiatto was linked to Town last week and would be more expensive than his City compatriot. The Australian is likely to fetch around £3.5 million, but if Town are interested then they would face opposition from Southampton.
The big rumour in Stoke is the claim that Town have been watching their Player of the Year Brynjar Gunnarsson. The 25-year-old Icelandic defender has been the star of Stoke s side this season as they have made their way into the Second Division play-offs. Also known to play in midfield, Gunnarsson is a regular in the Icelandic side along with Hermann Hreidarsson.
Wilnis Fit But Two Banned Friday, 9th Feb 2007 11:53
Full-back-turned-central defender Fabian Wilnis is expected to be fit enough to face Leicester City at Portman Road on Saturday. However, the Blues are without the suspended Alan Lee and Gary Roberts.
Wilnis, who was forced off with a foot injury at half-time during last week s 2-0 defeat at Crystal Palace, is likely to continue at centre-half alongside Richard Naylor, whose toe problem is shouldn t stop him from playing. Dan Harding and David Wright will take up their regular full-back roles. Skipper Jason De Vos remains on the sidelines with a cracked metatarsal.
