Greenwich is doing everything in its power to prepare educational settings for March 8, and Covid testing will be a key component in the safe return of schools, colleges and universities. Greenwich Council said in a statement that meetings with headteachers, risk assessments and safety measures are underway, and that regular testing will be vital in the safe return of pupils and students. And colleges across south east London, as well as the University of Greenwich, have confirmed their support for the return of face-to-face teaching next week. Along with the now-standard safety and social distancing measures, testing facilities are currently being established at each site.

Greenwich Council and Cllr Linda Perks
Greenwich Council has revealed a change to its Labour cabinet after the lead for finance and resources announced he is relocating out of the borough. Council leader Danny Thorpe announced the change as Cllr Chris Kirby, first elected in 2014, steps down as a councillor and cabinet member. Cllr Thorpe said he had constantly stood up for the people of the borough, adding that he was not alone in expressing my gratitude to Cllr Kirby for all his hard work. Replacing him as the cabinet member for finance and resources will be Cllr Linda Parks, who will take on the role alongside her current duties overseeing the vaccination roll-out.

URISA is pleased to announce the Exemplary Systems in Government (ESIG) Awards process for 2021. This year marks the milestone 40th Anniversary of URISA ESIG Awards, which recognize extraordinary achievements in the use of geospatial information technology that have improved the delivery and quality of government services.
The award competition is open to all public agencies at the national/federal, state/provincial, regional, and local levels. Winners will be recognized during the Awards Luncheon on October 5 during GIS-Pro 2021 in Baltimore, Maryland. Submissions are invited in two categories:
