anything about it. this is news 6 at 5:00, getting results. i m matt austin. i m ginger gadsden in for lisa bell tonight. school officials say over the weekend, the rumor mill went into overdrive, spreading rumors about a planned shooting. parents said they didn t know what to believe. that fight broke out on thursday at west port high school, just south of state road 40 in ocala. news 6 reporter eric sandoval talked with some of those parents today and he took their concerns to the school district. what have you been able to find out? so many students and parents were scared the shooting may indeed happen. about a thousand students stayed home from school here today at west port. school leaders tell me police gave them the all-clear so they didn t really see the reason to worry parents, but parents say that s the least they could have done. i was worried for my children. she says she was so worried about a rumored mass shooting happening at her kids school school
clermont police say this video shows the daycare director walking up to a 4-year-old boy, striking him with stuffed animals several times and then picking the child up and dropping him on the ground. it didn t appear in the video if you watched the video that he was doing anything, just laying there and that s when she walked over to him. law enforcement arresting the woman for child abuse. she s also on probation for welfare fraud and grand theft out of orange county. i wouldn t want anybody to bring their kids here now. she says she toured the daycare facility last month, looking for a place to take her 4-year-old daughter. she says she got a bad feeling when staff seemed rude and couldn t get ahold of the center s director. hoping she ll have a good day and you re going off to work hoping she s safe and she s not. clermont police saying it rarely responds to the daycare center, but a few years ago, someone made claims of child abuse by another employee. your
