Bayern s defense makes history at CSKA
In a battle near the top of the standings, FC Bayern Munich defeated CSKA Moscow 66-69 at Megasport Arena on Friday. Perhaps the biggest advantage to playing the FabFive Challenge over its counterpart, the EuroLeague Fantasy Challenge, is that you can adjust your lineups until tipoff. So if you missed that Alexey Shved was out in Round 21 or Mike James was out in Round 22, you may have been burned in the latter competition, but you can always make a last-minute adjustment in FabFive Challenge.
Of course, that is more helpful at certain times. For instance, all decisions regarding Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade players may hinge on the health of top scorer Jordan Loyd, who limped off the court in the second quarter on Tuesday and did not return. Waiting until just before the Zvezda game to tip off – the penultimate game of Round 23 at 20:45 CET on Friday – may be a little late, however, the idea that changes can be made at the last minute is surely helpful.
CSKA strikes back in Berlin
CSKA Moscow avenged an early-season loss and stayed perfect all-time in the German capital by downing host ALBA Berlin 68-71 on Wednesday. The victory kept CSKA in second place at 16-6, tied with leaders FC Barcelona. ALBA fell to 8-14 and remains in 14th place. It was a back-and-forth battle in which CSKA, after being up by a game-high of 12-20 but giving up the lead in the middle quarters, struck back with 12-19 final quarter prevail. Toko Shengelia led the winners, who were without top scorer Mike James, with 20 points. Daniel Hackett followed with 13, including 8 in the fourth quarter, while Nikola Milutinov registered a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. ALBA got 15 points from Peyton Siva but otherwise spread around it s scoring and suffered from CSKA s 6-12 advantage on the offensive glass.
