Baptist Church Service. It was told to me by a witness that she heard what she thought to be about 20 shots fired around 11 30 this morning. She said it sounded as if it was the work of a semiautomatic weapon. We have learned from local officials that a brief pursuit ensued as Police Chased the gunman across the county line. That pursuit ended with the gunmans death. It is unclear if Police Killed the man or if he took his own life. We are seeing federal, state and local assets on the ground there as many are injured. Are dead. Cnns kaylie has more on the story and we have been talking to people in various ways. This is tragic and horrible and has shaken up this Small Community. Is this small and intimate community in the First Baptist church with friends and neighbors. The shooting occurred in the middle of their sunday morning 11 00 a. M. Church services. I spoke with a gas station cashier and she heard what she estimated to be 20 shots fired around 11 30 a. M. Local. We learned from Law Enforcement that there was a brief pursuit of the suspect to that shooter now dead. First responders on the scene as they continue to assess the situation as one local official told us, 27 dead. That number continues to change. More than 20 injured. You can see ambulances on the scene. There have been air life support in the area as well as local hospitals doing all they can to help those wounded.
