This year’s May election is a special election, meaning voters are seeing only local candidates city councils, school boards, fire districts and the like and local ballot measures.
It’s too late to mail your ballot to have it counted in time. Instead, take your ballot to a drop box by 8 p.m. Tuesday. Find the one closest to you with this Oregon drop box locator. Didn’t get a ballot? Contact your county elections office.
Anthony Breeze THE Ipswich Rugby League fraternity and Brothers Football Club were saddened early in the week when news came through that Ian Rodgo Rodgers had passed away after a long, tough fight. Everyone that knew this great man always had positive things to say about him. He will be a big loss to all those who had the honour of meeting or working with him. Rodgo had dedicated his early life to touch football where he is a life member. A huge part of his life was his beloved Brothers Football Club where he also is a life member.

He and physician Dan Rodgers are running for the seat being vacated by one-term incumbent Scott Bailey.
The winner of the Zone 5 race will take office along with at least one other new board member come July after only one of the three members whose term ends this year opted to run for reelection.
The 2021 campaign comes at a time when families and employees in Portland Public Schools are charting courses for post-pandemic education. The state’s largest district was among the area’s last to open for in-person instruction.
