Added to the hurricane watch what this means is hurricane conditions could move into your area within the next 48 hours. A lot of you are preparing right now. If you havent started, this is the time to do so. Again, as of noon we are adding to the hurricane watch there has been some updates to the track. Not much slightly off to the east but still the cone of uncertainty through the entire state of florida. I dont want you to focus on track. I want to show you why because if youre anywhere in florida, youre saying, oh, you know, i dont see the ocean, you could still be impacted by the storm with tropical force storm winds. Wmaq meteorologist in the house with us today. As of 12 00, category 4 hurricane, but still only a few miles away in terms of wind speeds from a category 5 still very strong and very dangerous storm. You can see it spinning here right off to the right the path its going to take is westnorthwest and go right in between the bahamas and cuba in very warm water. So i do not see this losing much intensity. I even think we could see it intensify a little bit more as we mover forward today and then it does look to make aim on south florida, as we go into really sunday early morning. So lets talk about the latest alerts that have just been issued the hurricane watches have been extended up the coast, including tampa and including orlando now. You can see it in the orange color. Anything in purple, thats actually going to be the hurricane warning. Also along with wind and heavy rainfall, storm surge is going to be a huge problem for spots along the coast, and you can see 5 to 10 feet in regards

Miami is normally protected by the barrier island, miami beach, right . When symptoms come in the east like they typically do, you get a breakwater effect and cuts down on storm surge. With the storm coming from the south, you dont have that. It could be much worse situation in miami with a storm of this magnitude had it come into the east. That
